Anita Klein was born in Australia and studied art at the Chelsea School of Art and the Slade School of Art in London. In 1985, she was made a fellow of the Royal Society of Painter Printmakers and was elected president in 2002. Her work is included in international collections, and here in the UK, at the Royal Academy and the ICA. The artist celebrates the monumentality of women both in body and spirit as seen in the many depictions of herself as subject. The quotidian scenes are transformed from the mundane to the majestic.
