Kay Bell Reynal became a fashion photographer by chance, when as an associate editor for Vogue in NY, she was given a camera by the art director. Two years later she set up her own studio. After her marriage to the publisher, Eugene Reynal, in 1947, she came into contact with many leading authors and artists of the day and had the opportunity to capture them with her camera. T.S. Eliot, Alfred Stieglitz, Willem de Kooning, Marcel Duchamp and Mark Rothko were among her well-known subjects.
