Image: 220 x 320 mm Sheet: 241 x 338 mm Frame:
Engraved by the Flemish artist, de Bruyn, know as one of the Little Masters. Published in Omnium pene Europae, Asiae, Aphricae atque Americae Habitus (Costumes of the various nations, Europe, Asia, Africa and America), by Joos de Bosscher in 1580 on laid paper. These elaborate costumes are beautifully hand coloured, giving us a glimpse of dress styles with their intricate patterns and sumptuous jewel-like colours during the High Renaissance in Rome.
